i have to be honest…
this has been one of the hardest blog posts i’ve ever done. but it’s certainly not in a bad way; it’s in a “how do you sum up seventeen years in a matter of a few sentences” kind of way. you see, i didn’t meet hayley as a newly engaged bride. we didn’t just sit down over a few dinners or coffee dates to learn more about one another and to talk about dresses, rings, and photographs. no, when i first met hayley, i was years younger than she is now, and she was just a tiny, doe-eyed darling. what i first thought would just be an occasional babysitting job during my time at samford university became a lifelong friendship of families and one of the sweetest gifts of fellowship the lord has ever given to me.
you know how they say that it’s far easier to know which way to go if you know where you want to end up? well one thing i know with great certainty is that i would be honored and blessed to have my daughters grow up to be the kind of young woman that precious hayley has become. she’s a treasure to all who know her…particularly to the amazing man with whom she is now united in covenant marriage. hayley and graham, i cannot thank you enough for trusting this once silly picture-taking, crazy poem-writing, countless hair-braiding gal to be the one to document the utter joy and elation of your wedding day. i am blessed.
