the skies were dark with rain and loud with thunder, but when i snuck in the front door of their house yesterday, the atmosphere in their home couldn’t have been any more different. peace and warmth surrounded my every step, and the smell of sweet lavender filled the air.

songs of worship made their way throughout the house, and words of praise and encouragement literally filled the walls.

as the contractions got stronger, she whispered to her heavenly love as her earthly love whispered to her.

and their anxious pup? he waited patiently at her feet for the next several hours of work.

the story needs no written explanation from here on out. my precious friends, lauren and ryan, worked together beautifully; their doula, lauren, supported perfectly; and i now have the incredible honor of telling – through photographs – the intimate journey to their son’s first breath.

This is the most beautiful birth I could have ever imagined. Your love for each other glows in you as your love for God also shines in you and your home and the way you planned your babies birth. He is a very special gift from God. I have always felt God has special plans for the both of you and now for all three of you. God chose you both to be Elijah’s parents and I have no doubt together you will raise him teaching him of God’s love for everyone. I am so very proud of both of you. There will always be a special place in my heart for you. Looking at your video was amazing, I hurt when you hurt, I pushed when you pushed, I cried when you cried and I smiled and was so happy when Elijah made his appearance. I love you all, may God bless your family always. Lila, your proud Godmother.
