providential (adj.) – involving divine foresight or intervention

as i sat across from her mom at a local coffee shop, the tears welled up hot in my eyes. i’d never even met them but their story was such a beautiful tapestry of joys, struggles, and love that i couldn’t help but succumb to the emotion of it all. it’s an unlikely story with some unlikely players, but the true beauty of it rests in the One who so perfectly wove it all together. i suppose the best word for it is providential.

so now as i sit at my computer looking at their photos, the details are swirling their way back through my mind. the medical issues, the stranger-turned-brother, his brave conversation with her parents, the journal, the way he served her so beautifully that day at church…the list is practically unending. and the one emotion that outweighs the rest in my heart as i think about them, their families, and their friends is thankfulness. thankfulness for the witness of their lives and and thankfulness for the ministry of their marriage. so is it coincidence that i’m sharing now, during this week of thanksgiving, about their wedding day? no, i don’t believe it is. i suppose the best word for it is providential.
