you might remember the story…
it was the spring of 2011, and she had been on bed rest for several weeks. her long-awaited 37-week OB appointment had arrived, though, and she was thrilled to hear her doctor finally declare “full-term”. she called me with the news and said she was heading to the mall for a much-needed break from her bed at home. we made plans to chat soon and maybe even squeeze in a face-to-face meeting, as the whole extent of our interactions up to that point had occurred via phone conversations and texts.
then her water broke. that day. in the mall.
i tied up the loose ends at home and headed to the hospital with the thought in mind, it’s her first baby…we’ve probably got lots of time before he arrives. less than two minutes after i walked into the room that afternoon, though, baby briggs was born.
and then i introduced myself.
as so often happens with my clients, iris and justin ended up becoming personal friends of ours. iris and i now swap birth stories and homemade laundry detergent recipes while justin has blessed me by coming on board as a second-shooter for my weddings. having shared such a precious time with them at briggs’ birth, i was honored when they asked me to join them again to welcome baby parker. the story unfolded quite differently this time, but it ended with the exact same perfect result…a beautiful blessing from god.
congratulations, my friends, on the precious gift you’ve been given. much love to you all!
