she taught middle school in alabama and he was stationed with the navy in washington. living 800 miles apart isn’t typically a recipe for love, but somehow they made it work for a year and a half. weekend trips were made, holidays were split. but after a beautiful ceremony at prince of peace catholic parish last weekend, their lives as mr. and mrs. are finally merging in every way.
i was smitten with emily’s wedding gown from the first moment i walked into the bridal suite that morning. it had such an elegant, vintage feel and from the moment she put it on, it was clear that that gown was meant for her.
with the addition of her gorgeous bridesmaids, the look was complete and perfect.
while emily and her girls headed back to the bridal suite for touchups, nick and some of his uniformed groomsmen and sword bearers made their way out to the camera.
emily and nick asked not to see one another before their ceremony, but they did want to spend some time alone together to talk about the day and to exchange cards they’d written for one another. one of the perks of having the camera is that i get to see moments like these…
their ceremony was full of laughter, family, and love, and once their union was official, emily and nick were off to celebrate at a wonderful and fun reception.
as excited as they were to join their family and friends, they couldn’t enter the reception hall until they’d paid the price of passage…a kiss (at each pair of swords, mind you!). 😉
i’ll admit it…i’m completely smitten with the pomp and circumstance surrounding a military wedding. the uniforms, the traditional sword arch…but nick and his buddies pulled out all the stops when they surprised everyone by serenading emily. top gun style.
emily and nick, i’ve loved my time working with you over these last many months. you’re such a joy, and i’m so thankful to have met you. congratulations on a beautiful wedding day!!
**come back tomorrow for a sneak peek from emily and nick’s beautiful day-after session!!**
with many thanks…
