theirs is a story that encompasses joy and sorrow, laughter and tears. a story that only the Author himself could have written.

she didn’t really know him personally, but as the brother of one of her very dearest friends, she had known of him for years.  i imagine she heard all the sweet details of new babies, big hugs, and birthday parties.  but when the news came, her heart broke and she was driven to continual and fervent prayer for the man and his family.  it was a battle long and hard, one that in ending, left the house all too quiet and desperately missing one.

as she looks back through her journal from those days, she remembers all the specific ways she prayed for his and his children’s hearts. she sought the lord for their peace and for their comfort…she prayed for god to somehow heal them. but her prayers were covering far more than she ever imagined as the mystery of the lord’s plans unfolded and it became clear…

she herself was the answer to the prayers she had prayed.

the incredible day began with lauren surrounded by her closest friends and family against the backdrop of the magnificent ross bridge renaissance golf resort and spa.

then the room was breathless as the final touches were completed and lauren stepped out as an exquisitely gorgeous bride.

several miles down the road waited the other piece to this beautifully redemptive story…

and in a perfect ceremony honoring all that had taken place and all that is to come, sam and lauren became husband and wife. i can’t say with certainty what sam was praying here, but i imagine it was the same thing he said to the crowd of loving family and friends the night before at their rehearsal dinner…the lord saved her for this family.

sam and lauren will be the first to tell you that this journey is about far more than just themselves. yes, the two have become one…but they’ve also become a family.

and speaking of family, sam and lauren have been so richly blessed by many who have supported and loved them…

and those family and friends were thrilled to celebrate into the night back at ross bridge.

sam and lauren, i’m so humbled that you asked me to be a part of such an incredible day in the life of your family, and i pray that these photos in some small way reflect the beauty of your story as written so perfectly by the lord. i love you, my friends.

  2. Allison,
You are incredibly gifted in capturing and telling this beauty called life. I have so enjoyed reading your eloquent words and reliving the celebration…just four days ago! I pray that all the care and love you poured out over Sam and Lauren (as well as so many others, some shown here on your blog…LOVE how you captured the Cobb family’s reunion post-adoption) will return to you a hundred-fold. It was a pleasure to meet you this weekend.

I am in awe of these pictures and the moments that you captured. You so simply and beautifully, through photos and words, told Sam and Lauren’s story. It is a hard one to put into just a few words, but you accomplished it so well. Thank you for using your talent to glorify the Lord and to bless others! It was a joy to meet you.

Thank you so much for sharing Lauren & Sam’s wonderful day. My husband is her cousin, and we were so sad we couldn’t make the trip for their wedding. Your photos tell the story just beautifully and it helps us feel like we were there! I love how you captured Lauren’s gorgeous green eyes and Owen’s adorable smile! The whole family looks spectacular. Big kudos to your work (in photos and in words). Thank you!! 😉
