you know i love when a couple opts to do a first look before their ceremony. it provides a sweet, intimate time for them to see one another without hundreds of spectators, it lends itself to a much more relaxed flow throughout the day, and it allows for many, many more photos of the event’s most important people. but my favorite part is that when a couple sees one another privately first, it paves the way for some of the most raw and wonderful emotions of the whole wedding day.

blair and chris’ first look was no exception. they cried, they laughed, and they celebrated what was in store for them a few short hours later. we were then able to spend a few minutes capturing some formal photos before we joined the rest of their wedding party.

speaking of the wedding party, i’m in love with the pop of yellow against the landscape of the gardens. it was perfection!

blair and chris had a gorgeous ceremony just as the sun was setting…

and then they were off to a wonderful reception that was full of fun and countless details that blair had worked tirelessly to design.

this post wouldn’t be complete without thanking lacey of LB studios for assisting me on this wedding. i’ve got a soft spot for this sweet friend as she was the very first bride my camera ever saw. thank you, lacey, for all of your help and your pics!

(make sure you check out lacey’s website for her incredible work with newborns. the girl’s got skills!)
