i knew when i met them in starkville for their mississippi state engagement session that i adored them. they love to have fun, they love to laugh, but most importantly, they love each other immensely.
emily and david’s wedding day went off without a hitch. his groomsmen did everything i asked (plus some!)…
and her bridesmaids were nothing short of incredible (remind me to tell you about the rock-climbing-in-heels story sometime).
and finally, the stars of the show, of course, were absolute perfection.
i almost always leave from shooting a wedding thinking about “that” moment…the one that made me smile the biggest or that warmed my heart the most. well this weekend, i left emily and david’s wedding with two. most of my couples opt to see each other before the ceremony – it allows for more time for pictures of them together, it usually calms those jittery nerves before the rest of the day proceeds, and it makes for a smooth transition from ceremony to reception – but it was important to emily and david that they not see each other until she walked toward him down the aisle. and if it’s important to my clients, it’s important to me. but i still get a little sad because i know couples are missing out on that sweet moment when they’re together for the first time and can say anything they’d like and let the emotions come freely. sooooo…imagine my ecstatic glee when emily asked about doing something i’ve mentioned to brides in the past – a blend of the two extremes, if you will. love love LOVE this!
my second favorite moment of the day came immediately after their ceremony when i snuck emily and david away for a few minutes of photos before we finished up their family and bridal party pics. i got them positioned and then headed off to the side to quietly capture what unfolded. no sooner had they clasped hands than emily squealed, aaghhhhh…we’re married!!!!! it’s pictures like this that make my heart skip a beat.
emily and david, it has been such an honor to spend these past few months working with you for your perfect wedding day. you’re such a delight and i’m thrilled to have had the opportunity to document the first day of the rest of your lives.
