it’s one of my favorite times of the year – the time when i sit down and look back through all the pictures i’ve shot over the previous 12 months. sometimes i laugh at the fun we had and occasionally i cry over the emotion wrapped up in a photograph. but i always walk away grateful – grateful for such an amazing job and grateful for YOU. so to celebrate the end of another fantastic year at allison lewis photography, i’m having a “top eleven of 2011″ facebook contest, and the winner will receive a $150 print credit to use however he or she would like (on past or future sessions).
here’s how it’s going to work: i randomly selected eleven sessions and then chose my favorite photo from each session. i’m posting the full list of pictures here but for the actual giveaway i’ll put them on facebook and tag each client with his or her respective photos. if you’re a contestant this year, simply share the contest on your wall and encourage your friends to “like” allison lewis photography on facebook which will allow them to go in and “like” your individual photo. the photo with the most likes wins – it’s simple!!!
and now for the weddings and engagements entries…
1. ashleigh and nathan
this photo perfectly sums up what i love about a bride and groom seeing each other before their ceremony. so often i hear from couples that they want this intimate, emotional moment, and they think that will be best accomplished in the first minutes of their wedding ceremony. while i fully believe that day belongs solely to the bride and groom and i’m happy to oblige their wishes, i also fully believe that some of the sweetest moments of the day come when they spend the time seeing each other before the ceremony. no time constraints, no technical limitations in the church, and two cameras hid quietly away and focused only on them…look at the joy that results!!
2. mary cate and joshua
i don’t know if it’s the gorgeous lighting or having mary cate surrounded by her beautiful bridesmaids on her way out for her first photos as a bride, but something about this photograph reminds me of a spread in a fashion magazine. it’s like mary cate should have a bottle of expensive perfume in her hand or something.
3. kelly and dennis
i left our first meeting that night at starbucks excited about shooting their 2012 wedding, but after their engagement session a few months ago, i was ecstatic. kelly and dennis are nothing short of amazing in front of the camera! they take direction well, they move well together, and as you can see, they’re so. much. fun.
4. mindy and adam
it’s why i wish more couples would get married at the lake during the sunset hour. enough said.
5. anna-kate and leslie
they had no idea i was out there waiting to watch them get in the limo to go to their reception. i remember thinking as the doors of the church opened and they emerged that they looked so regal. she looked every bit the part of the beautiful princess, and in his classic tux and bowtie, he was the perfect completion of the package.
6. stacey and ryan
they’re another reason that i’m so excited about the weddings coming up in 2012. the warm lighting of this gorgeous day was a perfect reflection of who they are both as individuals and as a couple. you can’t help but love stacey and ryan! (and for the record, it was a toss-up between this photo and the dancing pics we started the session with. love me.) 😉
7. lauren and ryan
while i wasn’t able to shoot their wedding, i had the amazing opportunity to shoot lauren’s bridal photos before the big day arrived. lauren and i spent weeks coming up with the vision for her bridal session, and this photo is the perfect culmination of all of our planning. i love this girl!
8. katie and harlan
this photo doesn’t require much explanation. WOWZERS!!! katie can totally rock some bridal photos!
9. courtney and jered
shooting courtney and jered’s engagement photos was such a fun day for me. we might have done more talking and sharing about each other’s lives than we did picture-taking, but i walked away encouraged and thankful for their beautiful relationship. this sunset photo so perfectly reflects their contentment and peace.
10. meredith and brantley
when their wedding was one of the ones i randomly chose for this contest, i knew this photo would have to be included. from day one of meeting them, meredith and brantley were so incredibly thrilled about their big day. but the beauty of it is that they were far more excited about their marriage than they were about the hoopla of the actual wedding day. this photo of them coming down the aisle in the first minutes of being husband and wife is simply perfection.
11. amy and hunter
in chatting with them that first night we met, i learned that she loves old black-and-white movies. so when i got home from their wedding that night and began poring through the 2,000 photographs, i saw this photo and immediately had a vision of it processed with an old vintage b/w feel. i love the result.
